The Vintage Postcard Tour continues... Not Sure I want to go there!
Still looking at my friends mid-century postcards. This batch stood out because they looked a little strange to me. Usually postcards are meant to show how beautiful a place is, or how appealing it would be to visit. To me, these cards managed to say just the opposite.

Volcanic eruption in Costa Rica. Hope this was taken with a telephoto lens.
This is definitely not picturesque. Run for your life!

The Sand and Surf Hotel, Laguna Beach, California. Not a pleasant sight.
What were they thinking? The land is caving into the ocean. Who would stay there?
I checked the web. The hotel is still there, totally rebuilt. Of course.

This postcard is from Sadakan, Borneo. The card is titled "Foot Stone" and says
the stone is situated on the sea near the waterfront. I looked for it on the web,
no reference. Something tells me that it's now just a mound of rock.

Midnight sun in Norway. Not too appealing to me. I wouldn't want to scramble up
that rock pile to watch the sun not go down.

Innocent reindeer being rounded up in Sweden. There's only one fate for this
group and it's not something I'd like to think too much about.
